4) |
Do not use fonts in imported EPS graphics. Imported EPS files with fonts will have a high percentage of font substitutions.
|
5) |
All figures should be sized to fit (usually one to two columns wide). This will prevent Cadmus from having to scale figures to fit. Scaling figures to fit may cause type and lines to become too small to read. |
6) |
Use only TrueType fonts which can be embedded in the presentation file.
- To tell if your font will be embedded, click Font on the Format menu. If the letters "TT" appear next to the font name, then the font is a TrueType font and, unless it is restricted in use, it will embed correctly.
- WARNING: Do not use
Unicode or Double-Byte fonts. If these fonts are used, PowerPoint will
not embed them and we cannot insure proper processing. Below is a list
of Unicode or Double-Byte fonts
commonly found on Windows systems:
- Arial Unicode MS
- Batang
- SimSun
- MS Mincho
- PMingLiu

- However, some TrueType fonts are restricted in use.
In the example below, Bahamas is a TrueType font but will not embed because of a license restriction. In this case, to avoid a font substitution, we recommend using a different font.
- Frutiger 55 will not embed because it is not a TrueType font. In this case, to avoid a font substitution, we recommend using a different font.

Save a PowerPoint Presentation file and embed the fonts. Finally, save the figure as a PowerPoint Presentation. Be sure to embed fonts when saving. This "Embed Fonts" option is in different places for PowerPoint 97, 2000 and XP. Use the visual guides below for your version.
